Hughes at CeBIT 2008: Broadband Solutions and Managed Services
Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES) announced today that its European operating unit is showcasing its comprehensive portfolio of HughesNet broadband solutions and managed services on March 4 – 9, 2008 at CeBIT 2008, booth E 33, Hall 13. Available continent-wide, the suite of HughesNet Managed Network Services means enterprises of all sizes can enjoy the benefits of high performance broadband connectivity at any number of locations, and including VPN solutions for optimized networks, high-availability networks and access continuity services.
„CeBIT is the ideal forum for Hughes to present our latest capabilities in Managed Network Services,“ said Mike Darcy, President Hughes Europe. „Whether employing DSL, leased line, satellite, or a combination of technologies, with HughesNet Managed Network Services our customers have the flexibility to choose any access technology at any individual location. Our proven track record in managing multiple technology networks for major enterprises means customers can be confident that their networks will operate at high availability rates, often in excess of 99.99%- and the highly qualified Hughes team handles all aspects of network management, from planning, to installation, to on-going maintenance and support, relieving this burden from internal IT departments.“
Customers who rely on the flexibility of HughesNet solutions in Europe include BP/Aral and British National Lottery operator Camelot, which entrusted Hughes at the end of 2007 to provide managed network services to over 27,000 lottery sales points in the UK. Most of Camelot's sites are connected via the HughesNet broadband satellite service, together with some DSL locations, whereas BP/Aral is primarily utilizing terrestrial DSL connections, with HughesNet satellite links as a backup.
The HughesNet Managed Network Services portfolio comprises:
HughesNet Optimized Networks- that employs the most efficient broadband access technology at each location, whether satellite or terrestrial, such as DSL or leased line. In addition, the integrated package delivery feature enables the distribution of video-based files automatically across corporate networks for applications such as BusinessTV, on-line training and video-conferencing.
HughesNet High Availability Networks- that combines satellite and terrestrial access technologies at each location to minimize the effects of network outages or breakdowns; for example, in either load sharing mode or as a backup with automatic failover.
HughesNet Access Continuity Service- that delivers low-cost, backup connectivity by satellite, for any or all locations with a primary terrestrial network.
Also at CeBIT in Hanover, Hughes will showcase its HughesNet digital signage and data services for retail, point-of-sale applications. Digital signage and retail media solutions from Hughes enable retailers to precisely target customer groups, thereby improving sales and customer loyalty.
